Jahnvi advises clients on a broad range of contentious matters, with a particular focus on international arbitration and complex commercial litigation across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Jahnvi has experience acting in arbitrations under major institutional rules including DIAC, DIFC-LCIA and ICC, and regularly represents clients before the DIFC and ADGM Courts. Her practice spans high-value disputes in the construction, energy and infrastructure sectors, including landmark projects.

EXPERIENCE

  • Acting for a UAE based entity in ICC arbitration against a central bank and advising on the enforcement strategy across Europe, Middle East, and the US. 
  • Acting for a multinational satellite broadcaster in a DIFC-LCIA arbitration in relation to claims regarding unpaid invoices, alleged fraud and breach of contract in relation to the provision of movies under license for broadcast across the MENA region.
  • Advising multiple co-defendants in ADGM Court proceedings in relation to claims with a value of c. USD80m arising from a share drag. 
  • Acting for a UAE based funds manager in ADGM Court proceedings concerning allegations of fraud, embezzlement and breach of fiduciary duties.
  • Acting for the Respondents of one of the first worldwide freezing orders issued by the ADGM Courts.
  • Advising on a worldwide freezing order issued by the DIFC court and defending against allegations of contempt of court.
  • Acting for a Kuwait based company in DIFC Court recognition proceedings. 
  • Acting for administrators in relation to applications under the ADGM Court Insolvency Regulations. 
  • Representing the main contractor on the Museum of the Future project in a dispute pertaining to the façade package in the DIFC Courts, the value of the dispute being c. AED400m.
  • Acting for the main contractor in a high-value dispute concerning the development of a luxury five-star hotel on Palm Jumeirah, with claims valued at approximately AED1bn.
  • Representing an international bridge construction company in Qatari Onshore Court proceedings related to the Lusail Bridge, a flagship project for the Qatar Football World Cup, with the dispute exceeding QAR650m.
  • Advising the developer of a five-star hotel in Dubai in a dispute against the main contractor, with a claim value of approximately AED200m.
  • Representing a foreign contractor in DIAC arbitration proceedings concerning claims arising from the Dubai Expo 2020 project, valued at approximately AED130m.
  • Acting for the project company of a desalination plant in two ICC arbitrations involving high-value claims related to construction defects and COVID-19 impacts.
