DLA Piper welcomes trial lawyer Troy Valdez as a partner in the Employment group

DLA Piper is pleased to welcome San Francisco-based partner Troy Valdez to the firm’s Employment group.

Valdez is a trial attorney with more than 20 years of experience practicing labor and employment law. He has represented clients in a range of high-stakes employment matters, from wage and hour class actions, founder and executive disputes, breach of contract actions, whistleblower and retaliation claims, discrimination and harassment matters to traditional labor arbitrations. He has also prosecuted and defended trade secret misappropriation and corporate raiding suits.

In addition to his litigation experience, Valdez counsels clients on all aspects of the employer/employee relationship. This experience includes: the implementation of wage and hour compliance programs, the creation and implementation of employee and workplace policies, the negotiation of executive recruitment and terminations, the implementation of legally compliant reductions in force and other cost-saving measures, and the navigation of the law with respect to employee compensation, leaves, discipline and terminations. Valdez focuses on guiding clients through complex employment situations and decisions to avoid litigation and putting them into the best position to defend themselves when litigation cannot be avoided.

“Troy’s addition further strengthens our employment team at a time when companies are facing increasingly complex labor and employment law challenges,” said Marc Katz, chair of the firm’s Employment practice. “We know his background and skillset will be an asset to our clients.”

“Our Northern California clients are increasingly asking for more help with thorny labor and employment issues. Troy’s addition to our practice strengthens our capabilities here and furthers our growth in Northern California,” said Jeff Tsai, managing partner of the firm’s San Francisco office.
