Joseph (Joe) Baker represents clients in class actions, product liability suits, and complex commercial litigation, including leading brands in the automotive, durable goods, and consumer product industries. He has extensive experience counseling some of the world's most recognizable companies in large-scale disputes involving significant reputational and financial exposure.
Joe has built a proven track record of success – particularly in securing early dismissals, defeating class certification, and winning summary judgment. Those results reflect his strategic judgment, disciplined case management, and tactical use of procedural tools to create leverage and shift momentum. He is also willing to depart from conventional approaches when the situation calls for it and has helped clients prevail where creative arguments and approaches made the difference.
Joe sees the whole playing field. As part of his role as a litigator, he prioritizes understanding his clients' businesses and industries. That context helps him deliver stronger arguments and sharper advice and, in turn, better serve their litigation and broader business goals.
Joe also regularly advises on damages issues in class actions and other complex litigation. He works closely with economic experts to evaluate and challenge asserted damages methodologies, and he has experience moving to exclude flawed models as well as opposing class certification on damages-related and other grounds.
Before practicing law, Joe was a two-sport athlete at Penn State, where he earned a varsity letter in football and was a three-time Collegiate All-American in rugby. He also competed internationally for several years as a member of the United States National Rugby Team.
