DLA Piper boosts Finance, Projects and Restructuring practice with new hire in Amsterdam

DLA Piper today announces the appointment of Wilmy Westerhof as a Senior Associate in its Finance, Projects and Restructuring practice. The international law firm has appointed Westerhof in anticipation of an expected increase in (compulsory) restructurings due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Westerhof advises Dutch and international clients on insolvency law, financing and security, and property law specifically related to proprietary rights and interests. In addition, she has extensive experience in dealing with bankruptcies. Westerhof previously worked at CMS.

Marc Molhuysen, Partner Finance, Projects and Restructuring at DLA Piper in the Netherlands said: "Even before the COVID-19 crisis emerged, the economy was showing signs of cooling off. We therefore expect the number of liquidations and restructurings to increase considerably over the course of this year, once the current relief measures end. Wilmy is joining us in anticipation of this development. Due to her expertise and extensive experience in the financial sector, she will be of considerable added value to our clients in these challenging times.”

Commenting on her switch to DLA Piper, Wilmy Westerhof said: "My move to DLA Piper has been inspired by a desire to broaden and deepen my knowledge and experience of banking and bankruptcy practice, with a special focus on (international) restructurings. DLA Piper’s Finance, Projects and Restructuring practice, a leader in its field, is an ideal place for this. I see this move as a unique opportunity to realise my ambitions, and I am very much looking forward to being part of the team.”
