About
Daniel Street is a litigation and regulatory partner, dual-qualified in New Zealand and Australia. He specialises in complex commercial disputes, particularly across the financial services and energy sectors, representing clients through all levels of the New Zealand courts. He also advises on cross-border regulatory enforcement risks, offering clients distinctive insight into disputes and regulatory challenges.

As DLA Piper’s Sustainability & ESG lead in New Zealand and international co-lead for sustainability reporting, disclosure and marketing, Daniel has built a nationally recognised practice at the intersection of climate governance, legal risk and reputation management. He supports boards and executives with emerging ESG obligations, greenwashing liability, climate disclosure compliance and strategic risk management.

Daniel acts for major corporates and financial institutions on contentious and regulatory matters, regularly appearing in significant commercial proceedings. He is sought out for advice on climate-related legal risks, including under New Zealand’s climate disclosure regime, and for guidance on managing reputational exposure from greenwashing claims.

Daniel also contributes to thought leadership globally and frequently speaks at industry forums on sustainability governance and director responsibilities.
