Emerging litigation risks for the life sciences industry in Europe

22 June 2023, 14:30 – 15:30 BST, ONLINE

Emerging litigation risks for the life sciences industry in Europe

Life sciences businesses are particularly vulnerable to regulatory action and litigation – they are globalised, have complex supply chains, their products and services are sold to significant numbers of customers and their businesses touch on sensitive personal matters. This webinar is the first in a series considering the emerging regulatory and litigation risks for the life sciences industry in Europe. This webinar will introduce some of the emerging issues, including new European regulations, the rise of a US-style litigation landscape fuelled by litigation funders, the development of a pan-European class action system, the globalisation of supply chains and the rapid development of new products in a heavily regulated and constantly changing environment.

As we look ahead in 2023, Teresa Hitchcock (Partner and International Co-Head of Product Liability), Leon Korsten, (Partner, Litigation & Regulatory), Geoffrey Levitt (Of Counsel and US Co-Chair of FDA Regulatory Practice) Jeremy Sher (Partner and International Co-Head of Class Actions) and Siona Spillett (Legal Director, Litigation & Regulatory) will discuss:

  • an overview of the key regulatory risks in Europe for life sciences businesses;
  • the size and scope of the risk facing businesses;
  • how the European litigation landscape is looking more like the American landscape;
  • introduction to two specific litigation risks: product liability and sustainability;
  • what actions businesses can take to prevent and defend litigation.

This webinar is part of a series covering global issues that are triggering substantial litigation risk.
