Valentina Trappolini is a tax lawyer advising Italian and foreign clients on domestic and international tax law matters.

Valentina advises domestic and international clients on tax planning and provides tax assistance on a wide spectrum of domestic and cross-border transactions. She graduated in corporate tax law in 2013, admitted to the Rome Bar in 2016. Before joining DLA Piper in 2019, Valentina worked with a leading Italian law firm.

She focuses on the tax law aspects of real estate, investment funds (ongoing taxation and structuring), private equity and structured finance sectors. She advises, for tax purposes, institutional and private clients in the context of investment transactions and real estate development, in purchasing/selling real estate portfolios and in transactions involving Italian and foreign investment funds.

She is experienced on taxation concerning M&A, corporate and financial transactions, on international tax law matters, providing the clients with a full tax assistance in each step of the investments.

Moreover, she advises clients before the Italian Tax Authorities (in the context of abuse of law disputes, permanent establishments matters, issues concerning the application of Double Taxation Treaties) and provides her assistance in the context of tax rulings procedures.

Furthermore, she has gained experience in the context of private clients practice with structuring of personal and corporate assets, residency matters, trust planning and taxation, family governance structures to facilitate intergenerational wealth succession.

She also deals with drafting and updating of compliance programs required pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 231/2001 (MOGC 231) for the purposes of tax criminal aspects and handles with the DAC 6 reporting obligations.

EXPERIENCE

Valentina, as part of the relevant tax team involved, assisted several clients in tax matters including:

  • international groups, domestic and foreign real estate investment funds in the context of several transactions aimed at purchasing RE portfolios;
  • Italian asset management companies in structuring and setting up cross-border asset and share deals on behalf of investment funds;
  • foreign banks in the context of facilities agreements to be granted for financing the acquisition of RE assets already realized/to be developed;
  • Italian companies with reference to abuse of law disputes before the Italian Tax Authorities and, for litigation purposes, before the Italian Tax Court.
