DLA Piper partner Cara Nelson receives 2021 Lawyers in Real Estate Award from Connect CRE

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Cara Nelson, co-location head of the firm’s Boston Real Estate practice, was one of just 10 lawyers to be honored by Connect CRE with a 2021 Lawyers in Real Estate Award in the Boston and New England category. The award recognizes real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.

The publication highlighted Nelson’s recent notable transactions, including representing Oxford Properties Group in its US$151 million acquisition of two life sciences projects in the greater Boston area, as well significant transactions for Safanad, Inc. and Berkshire Residential Investments. Connect CRE also noted that she is a past president of CREW Boston and currently serves on the board of directors of Heading Home, Inc., a Boston-based nonprofit serving homeless and formerly homeless families and individuals. At DLA Piper, Nelson has served as a mentor to many women lawyers and has been an active participant in the firm’s Leadership Alliance for Women, a resource group that offers leadership training and professional development for women lawyers.

Nelson has broad experience providing advice to commercial real estate investors and developers, real estate funds, investment advisors and pension plans in a wide variety of commercial real estate transactions throughout the United States. Her clients invest in diverse asset classes, including multi-family, office, industrial, senior housing and retail properties, often through joint venture arrangements. Her experience includes representing buyers, sellers and borrowers of multi-family and senior housing assets, office towers, development parcels, industrial properties and retail centers.
