DLA Piper advises TÜV Rheinland on the sale of a stake in subsidiary in Algeria

DLA Piper has advised TÜV Rheinland AG on the sale of the 49% stake in TUV Rheinland Algeria SARL held by its subsidiary TUV Rheinland Maghreb SARL to their former co-shareholder.

The parties also entered into a partner agreement with respect to future certification services.

TÜV Rheinland has been active for more than 150 years and is one of the world's leading testing service providers. With more than 20,000 employees in over 50 countries, the company has an annual turnover of around EUR2.3 billion. TÜV Rheinland's experts test technical systems and products around the world, support innovations in technology and business, train people in numerous professions and certify management systems according to international standards.

The DLA Piper team was led by partner Sebastian Decker (head of the German Africa Desk at DLA Piper) with senior associate Anne-Kathrin Hoppe (both Corporate/M&A, Hamburg) in the core team. In addition, partner Dr Thilo von Bodungen (Commercial, Munich) was involved. In Algeria, the law firm L&P Partners, a member firm of DLA Piper Africa, supported the transaction with partner Ait Belkacem Mounir and associate Steven Aldrich (both Corporate/M&A, Algiers).
