Ahmed is an Associate in the Middle East Finance and Projects team, specialising in the development and financing of large-scale energy and infrastructure projects. With extensive experience advising both lenders and sponsors, he is adept at drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of project and finance agreements.

His experience includes finalising senior financing documentation including Islamic finance agreements, negotiating equity bridge loan agreements between sponsor entities and facility providers, and advising on both onshore and offshore security arrangements in favour of Security Agents and Trustees. Ahmed has also played a key role in guiding both lenders and sponsors through the conditions precedent process, providing strategic support to ensure smooth progression to financial close on major projects.

EXPERIENCE

Ahmed has advised:

  • A syndicate of banks in relation to Haradh and Wudayhi accommodation project for Saudi Aramco, a public-private partnership (PPP) in Saudi Arabia to build two staff housing complexes for up to 2,800 employees.
  • A consortium of sponsors on the project financing of Saudi Power Procurement Company's (SPPC) Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the 1100 MW Al Henakiyah Solar PV project as part of Round 4 of the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP).
  • A syndicate of banks in relation to the Taiba 2 and Qassim 2 Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Independent Power Plant (IPP) projects for the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) in Saudi Arabia, with a combined capacity of 3.96 GW.
  • A syndicate of banks on the project financing of PIF-4 project cluster group, backed by Saudi's Public Investment Fund, consisting of the Haden and Al-Khushaybi power station projects, with a total capacity of 3GW.
