Kathleen Medrano regularly advises clients on the corporate and legal aspects of restructuring, post-acquisition integration, global expansion, and operating model implementation.

She represents companies in a broad range of corporate and transactional matters, including corporate governance issues and general corporate law matters. She also assists clients with the formation and ongoing governance of both US and foreign subsidiaries and advises on documenting intercompany transactions.

Prior to joining DLA Piper, Kathleen served as the Assistant District Attorney for the Harris County District Attorney's office in Houston. She was the first chair attorney in more than 20 jury trials. During her time with the DA's office, Kathleen served as a Senior Felony Prosecutor and a Misdemeanor Court Chief. She spent much of her time as a prosecutor working in the Family Criminal Law Division, where she prosecuted cases of domestic violence and worked with a multi-disciplinary team to increase the safety of victims and the accountability of offenders. Kathleen was also selected to work in the Major Offender Division where she assisted law enforcement in on-going investigations by providing guidance in case preparation and drafting warrants and court orders.
