Emma Karabell is involved in a variety of matters for the firm's global litigation group, focusing on product liability and commercial litigation, regulatory and code compliance and internal investigations.

She represents international clients including insurance companies and manufacturers and distributors of medical devices, automotive and consumer products.

A significant amount of Emma's practice is focused on litigation preparedness, particularly with respect to corporate compliance issues, process management, records and information management (RIM), privacy and e-discovery. She has developed policies, procedures and schedules for the implementation, management and auditing of national and international document management programs, e-discovery strategic plans, payment card industry data security standard compliance and various ISO standards. She has also provided counseling to clients on issues involving risk management, product warning and warranty development.

Representative Matters

  • Served as project lead for the development of records management policies, procedures, guidelines and implementation plan for a major health care insurance provider
  • Developed information governance program for a private military company that provides security services to private and government entities and provided information management training to teams located domestically and overseas
  • Prepared records retention schedule and records management protocols for national management company of nursing homes and assisted living facilities
  • Served as outside auditor and compliance consultant to a major automotive component parts manufacturer in order to institute compliance and quality assurance in litigation crisis, litigation response and records management programs
  • Developed company-wide records management programs for a major consumer product company, including preparation of policies, procedures, guidelines and training modules concerning records security, retention and disposal
  • Developed a company-wide records management program, including preparation of policies, procedures, guidelines and training modules concerning records security, retention and disposal for a major insurance company
