Ana Belén Martell is an attorney with over 16 years of experience in intellectual property and 7 years in life sciences, with a recognized practice in the protection and strategic management of intangible assets. She has advised pharmaceutical, biotechnology, consumer goods, financial, and other companies, supporting them in the design of regulatory strategies, the defense of their IP portfolios, and the resolution of complex disputes involving trademarks, patents, and software.

Her trajectory includes leading pioneering projects in genetic resources regulation, protection of intangibles (trademarks, patents, software, and trade secrets), and the comprehensive management of intellectual property portfolios at both national and international levels.

She actively participates in global forums on intellectual property and life sciences and serves as a lecturer and speaker, sharing her expertise on innovation, regulation, and the strategic management of intangible assets.

Prior Experience

Before rejoining DLA Piper, Ana Belén led a boutique law firm specializing in intellectual property, unfair competition, life sciences, consumer protection, and data privacy. Previously, she headed the intellectual property, unfair competition, and regulatory affairs practice at a local firm and served as Legal Director at an international industrial property consultancy, where she led teams of lawyers and managed high-impact projects.

She began her career at DLA Piper Perú where she worked for more than six years in the intellectual property and unfair competition practice. During that time, she gained solid experience in strategic counseling, administrative and judicial litigation, management of national and international trademarks and patent portfolios, as well as intellectual property due diligence processes related to mergers and acquisitions.
