David Magraner-Ortiz focuses his practice on corporate matters, including the organization and operation of private entities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance compliance. He has experience with general government affairs matters and tax incentive laws, including export service companies (Act 60-2019 – former Act 20-2012) and individual resident investors (Act 60-2019 – former Act 22-2012).

David's experience also includes the formation of private equity series funds and the acquisition of private companies' operational licenses and permits.

  • Counsel to a subsidiary of a US-based pharmaceutical company in the issuance and renewal of controlled substance licenses and establishment operations in Puerto Rico.

Prior Experience

  • Prior to joining DLA, Mr. Magraner-Ortiz was an associate in a leading Puerto Rico law firm, where he gained experience in several corporate matters. During his tenure, Mr. Magraner-Ortiz also provided legal assistance to the Financial and Oversight Management Board of Puerto Rico.
  • Provided legal counsel to a privately-held non-profit Puerto Rico pharmacy in its corporate reorganization following the acquisition of two non-profit health service companies.
  • Provided legal counsel and assisted in the acquisition of a telecommunications service provider in Puerto Rico.
  • Provided legal counsel to a Puerto Rico private higher education institution in the federal bidding of CDBG-DR funds for the development of a health program facility, among others.
  • Notary services that include Purchase and Sale, Loans, and Power of Attorney Deeds, among others.
