Hélène has over 10 years’ experience in banking and finance matters. She advises Belgian and foreign clients on a broad range of financing transactions, with a particular focus on syndicated loans, acquisition and leveraged finance, real estate finance, borrowing base financing and financial restructuring matters. She represents both lenders (including Belgian and foreign banks and alternative lenders) and borrowers (including private equity sponsors and corporate borrowers).

She has extensive experience in leading and coordinating national and cross-border transactions and complex deals.

She joined DLA Piper in September 2022.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising an English bank in relation to the financing of the acquisition of an office complex in Brussels, Belgium. This transaction was one of the largest real estate investment transactions ever completed in Belgium.*
  • Advising an English investor on the Belgian law aspects of the financing of a longlease of an urban landmark building in Brussels.*
  • Advising a club of Belgian banks as arrangers in relation to the refinancing of a shopping center in the Walloon region, Belgium in the context of the acquisition of the shopping center by an international real estate investment management firm. This was the largest retail real estate transaction in Belgium in 2016.*
  • Advising a syndicate of banks in relation to the financing of the leveraged buy-out of a Euronext-listed company.*
  • Advising a club of Belgian banks on the establishment, and subsequent amendment and restatement of a term and revolving facilities agreement for an international logistics company.*
  • Advising a Belgian private equity fund in relation to a mezzanine facility agreement for the financing of the acquisition of a Belgian food company.*
  • Advising a syndicate of banks in connection with the financing package for a roofing and façade materials distributor, mainly for the purpose of financing certain acquisitions.*
  • Advising a syndicate of banks in relation to a facilities agreement for a Belgian entertainment group.*

PriorExperience

During 2012-2022 Hélène worked as an associate for the Brussels and London office of another large international law firm. During that time, she has also been seconded as legal counsel to an international bank in Brussels.
