We also advise on construction contracts, architectural agreements, management agreements, lease disputes including litigation, and all other lease-related transactions. When needed, we also mediate disputes over operating costs, repair and maintenance, and proceedings related to the extension, renewal, and termination of lease agreements.

  • AXA on a number of acquisitions, disposals and ongoing management work across its UK property portfolio, including the GBP86 million disposal of a major retail and office asset in Oxford Street, London; the disposal of significant office and retail assets for AXA Sun Life and Sun Life Assurance Society PLC; the acquisition of an office redevelopment opportunity for the Greater London Fund and the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of NorthStar Realty Europe Corp.
  • BioMed Realty in negotiating a lease for 600,000 square feet to Takeda Pharmaceuticals at 585 Kendall, Cambridge Massachusetts for lab and office use, constituting all of the 16-stories of lab and office space available in the building.
  • British Airways in respect of all on-and off-airport properties for the airline globally, providing comprehensive advice on transactional, property litigation and construction matters, including their headquarter offices, lettings at major airports (including London Heathrow and London Gatwick), reconfiguring access arrangements for the new double-decker A380 aircraft, crew rooms, assignment of previous leases held by bmi, and reorganization of the property holdings of the BA Group at London Gatwick.
  • Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft in connection with a 42,000 square foot lease for the firm’s Washington DC headquarters.
  • Cal State Teachers' Retirement System in the leasing needs for much of its nationwide portfolio, consisting of billions of dollars of assets and millions of SF of retail, office, and industrial space.
  • The Carlyle Group in connection with the negotiation of a master facilities agreement, covering all of Carlyle's corporate offices globally. The agreement covers site selection, leasing, space planning, construction, property management and many other tasks. We also negotiated a new headquarters lease for The Carlyle Group of approximately 200,000 square feet in the building located at 1001 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C., as well as on the leasing of the various premises within the Aurora Place skyscraper in Sydney, Australia that is owned by The Carlyle Group.
  • CBRE GI on the acquisition and management of one of Spain’s largest logistics portfolios.
  • Costco Wholesale Corporation on numerous real estate development projects throughout the Midwest, including property acquisition, ground leases, sell-off of excess land, imposition of restrictive covenants to protect area exclusivity, re-write of developer CCR’s to address project development and operational concerns, negotiating agreements with local governments that implement tax incentive financing, and site development for stores and distribution centers.
  • Davis Polk & Wardwell in connection with an 82,000 square foot lease in a newly constructed trophy office building for the firm’s Washington DC headquarters.
  • GI Partners in connection with a sale/leaseback transaction with DirecTv for DirecTv's LA Broadcasting Center in Culver City CA. The sale price was USD211 million with a 35-year NNN lease back to an affiliate of the seller.
  • Harrison Street in a joint venture with Capstone Development Partners in the execution of a long-term ground lease with the University of Washington related to the development of a USD200 million student housing project, which will include a dining hall, retail space and office space.
  • Hines, as landlord, in William Blair & Company’s headquarters relocation to 340,000 SF of space in a new construction high-rise in Chicago’s West Loop district.
  • The HYM Investment Group in connection with the retail leasing at its Suffolk Downs project, which is the redevelopment of a 90-year-old racetrack in Boston and neighboring Revere, MA, into a mixed-use community with 55 buildings and 16 million square feet of residential, office, lab, hotel and retail space.
  • Kirkland & Ellis in the negotiation of a new office lease for its Washington, DC, office.
  • The New York Times Company, as landlord, in a new lease with Goodwin Procter LLP for 216,000 SF of space in The New York Times Building at 620 Eighth Avenue in New York City.
  • Ocean Network Express, the sixth largest container company in the world, on setting up 49 new offices in 23 countries across Europe and Africa.
  • Round Hill Capital on the acquisition and management of an 18-asset logistics and industrial portfolio in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
  • St James’s Place plc, the wealth management house with direct property investments of approximately GBP2 billion spread across over 100 assets. We have acquired and actively managed all of these assets. They include several industrial estates, retail parks, trading estates, shopping centers and office developments and business parks.
  • Universities Superannuation Scheme, the largest pension scheme in the UK with direct property investments of GBP2.5 billion spread across 84 assets with an average lot size of GBP30 million.
