APAC Employment Seminar and Cocktails: Employment Disputes: Pitfalls, Tips and Strategies

27 June 2023, 16:00 – 20:00 SGT

Venue
Boardroom and Lower Lobby
The Fullerton Hotel, Singapore
1 Fullerton Square
Singapore 049178

We are delighted to invite you to a seminar jointly organized by DLA Piper and Shanghai Kaiman Law Firm where employment experts from Singapore, Hong Kong and the PRC will discuss cross-border terminations of employment. The event will be held in Singapore on 27 June 2023.

As the world returns to work, employee mobility has increased throughout the APAC region – with growing flows of people traffic between Singapore, Hong Kong and the PRC. Employees are increasingly being hired under more complex hiring structures and often involving multiple jurisdictions. But less thought it is given to what happens when things ‘go wrong’ and employees need to be let go. It is critical to ensure terminations are planned and implemented in a way that is not only compliant with local laws, but also tackles the competing risks in multiple jurisdictions.

Coupled with this, we are seeing an uptick in employment claims – not only in Hong Kong and the PRC but also in Singapore which has historically been less prone to claims. Drawing on the speakers’ litigation experience, we will discuss the practical aspects of successfully defending employment claims including: how to manage investigations to mitigate future risk, mediation tactics, drafting and filing responses, preparing for hearings and settlement strategy.

The discussion will be followed by networking cocktails.

We look forward to welcoming you.
