COP30: Navigating carbon markets and the energy transition

11 November, 16:00 - 19:30 BRT

As governments gather for the pivotal COP30 climate negotiations in Belém, join DLA Piper for an exclusive seminar on the future of national emissions trading systems (ETS) and their role in accelerating the energy transition.

The evening will begin with a panel discussion led by partners Andreas Gunst and Andrew Westgate, alongside other senior voices, followed by a reception. The session will explore Brazil’s newly launched emissions trading system, alongside insights into established ETS and carbon pricing frameworks internationally, including the development of emerging Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms.

We will also explore strategies for aligning carbon markets under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which enables voluntary international cooperation to help countries meet their climate targets through both market-based and non-market-based approaches. The discussion will further consider how carbon dioxide removal technologies can be integrated into ETS frameworks.

Attendees will gain practical insights to help navigate the evolving global carbon markets and prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

If you or your business or organisation are attending COP30, please register your interest here.
