The global position on mandating COVID-19 vaccines and testing for employees continues to evolve at pace. Key changes this month include the US announcing new vaccine and testing requirements for employersItaly requiring all employees in the private sector to have a Green Pass by October 15, 2021; and Singapore employers being encouraged to adopt a Vaccinate or Regular Test (VoRT) regime.

The Singaporean employment law landscape is changing. New rules have been announced recently – designed to protect jobs for local workers – that will impact all employers operating in Singapore. The changes include the introduction of workplace discrimination laws for the first time and establishment of a discrimination tribunala requirement for employers with at least 10 employees to notify the Ministry of Manpower of all redundancies as of November 1, 2021;a new higher salary threshold for foreign work visas; the establishment of a committee to strengthen protection for gig / self-employed workers; and new COVID-19 measures.
