British Columbia announces minimum wage increase

The British Columbia government announced on April 5, 2023 that the minimum wage will be increased from $15.65 to $16.75 an hour effective June 1, 2023.

According to the Government Press Release, the increase is directly tied to B.C.’s average annual inflation rate in 2022, which was 6.9%. This follows the same practice the B.C. government took last year when it increased the minimum wage by 2.8%, the average annual inflation rate in 2021.
