Daniel Tobey joins DLA Piper's Litigation practice in Dallas

DLA Piper announced today that Daniel Tobey has joined the firm's Litigation practice as a partner in Dallas.

Tobey, who is a medical doctor and software entrepreneur in addition to an accomplished litigator, brings a unique mix of experience to his representation of technology, healthcare and life sciences companies in matters ranging from patent disputes to tort and contract claims.

"Danny is a perfect fit for our global platform, which will allow him to take advantage of his unique background in the life sciences and healthcare fields," said Loren Brown, co-chair of DLA Piper's global and US Litigation practices. "Our clients will greatly value his counsel as they seek to navigate a litigation and regulatory environment that is complex and changing constantly."

Tobey is the latest addition to the firm's Dallas office, which has also recently added Litigation partners Jason Lewis, Jason Hopkins, Rob Hoffman, Michael Moore and Matthew Nickel; Employment partners Marc Katz and Isabel Crosby; and Corporate partner Steven Bartz. This is in addition to the firm's expansion in Austin, which has included Corporate partners David Parrish, Nicole Brennig, Elise Green, Philip Svahn, Sara Stinnett and Richard Cardillo.

Tobey, who joins from Vinson & Elkins LLP, received his J.D. from Yale Law School, his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and his B.A. from Harvard University.
