DLA Piper recognised at the Australasian Law Awards 2020

DLA Piper’s Restructuring and Finance practices have been recognised at the annual 2020 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards, announced on 20 August 2020. The firm won the Insolvency & Restructuring Deal of the Year award for its role advising on Wollongong Coal Limited (ASX:WLC) and Jindal Steel & Power secured debt restructuring by way of Schemes of Arrangement under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) approved by the NSW Supreme Court earlier this year.

A DLA Piper cross-border team involving offices in Australia, Asia and the UK advised the Jindal Group – one of the largest power and steel producers globally – with respect to the restructuring of secured facilities of its Australian subsidiaries, including Wollongong Coal Limited and Jindal Steel & Power (Australia) Limited.

The DLA Piper team advising on this transaction was led by Restructuring partner Amelia Kelly and Finance partner Alex Regan in Sydney, alongside London-based Finance partner Doug Murning and Restructuring partner Mark Fairbairn in Hong Kong.
