Michal Kasprowicz and Cristina Mihalceanu named 2020 Managing Intellectual Property Rising Stars

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP congratulates Michal Kasprowicz and Cristina Mihalceanu on being named Rising Stars in Managing Intellectual ‎Property’s IP STARS 2020 ‎global rankings.‎

Managing IP provides comprehensive coverage of the world's leading IP firms and practitioners. Rankings are determined after an intensive research process that includes market review, industry surveys and client interviews which extensively review firms for their expertise, outcomes achieved for clients and unique strengths in a given practice area. Research is compiled from thousands of firms, IP practitioners and their clients over a six month period.

Michal Kasprowicz’s practice covers all areas of intellectual property law, with a focus on patent and trademark litigation. Michal has represented clients at all stages of the litigation process; he has prosecuted patent applications for large and small innovators, and is a registered Patent Agent. Building on his technical background in electrical engineering, Michal has participated in intellectual property disputes encompassing electronics, lottery systems, mining, recreational vehicles, playground equipment and commercial products. In 2018, Michal received the SLS Outstanding Special Lecturer Award from Windsor Law school, presented to the sessional instructor who most exemplifies the attributes of an exceptional teacher for the school year in question.

Cristina Mihalceanu is an intellectual property lawyer with expertise in litigating and providing strategic advice in all areas of patent, trademark, copyright as well as regulatory and compliance matters. She assists clients on all aspects of their projects and litigation: from managing intellectual property portfolios, to providing strategic advice on intellectual property risk management, to representing clients in court both at the trial and appellate levels. In addition, she works with clients and counsel in various jurisdictions to manage a global strategy to multi-jurisdictional intellectual property matters. Cristina’s practice is informed by her technical background in the sciences coupled with her ability to understand complex technologies across multiple industry sectors including the life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, oil and gas, mining, and high-technology areas.
