DLA Piper (Canada) LLP welcomes associate Matthew Demeo
DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to welcome Matthew Demeo to the firm’s Toronto office as an associate in the Employment and Labour group.
Matthew’s practice focuses on advising employers on complex workplace issues and advocating on their behalf in negotiations and legal disputes. His expertise encompasses the full-range of human resources issues including drafting employment agreements, restrictive covenants and workplace policies, advising on individual terminations, restructurings and business closures, and navigating tense labour relations. He also assists businesses with balancing their respective rights and obligations around employment standards, human rights, workplace bullying and harassment and occupational health and safety.
Matthew has represented employers at labour arbitrations, before administrative tribunals and at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Federal Court of Canada.
Prior to joining the firm, Matthew practised at a Canadian national law firm where he served as a trusted-advisor to clients from across Canada, the United States, and abroad. Matthew’s experience as a Human Resources Manager in the manufacturing industry prior to pursuing his career in law, brings a practical and business-minded approach to his practice.
