DLA Piper recognised as Employer of Choice
DLA Piper is delighted to be included in Australasian Lawyer's 2020 Employer of Choice rankings.
Now in its second year, the 2020 Employer of Choice showcases Australian legal employers that are leading the way with policies and initiatives that engage their people. Key areas include employee health and wellbeing, work-life balance, communication, leadership, diversity and inclusion, reward and recognition, and access to technology and resources.
DLA Piper Managing Partner in Australia, Amber Matthews said: “Being recognised as an Employer of Choice once again proudly demonstrates our commitment to best practice. As a global law firm, we have a number of best practice programmes designed in line with our key values to enhance health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and high performance for our people."
Key areas of focus for DLA Piper have included:
- Embedding a culture of flexibility through our new WorkSmart+ policy, which is all about informal flexible working, and enabling our people to manage their workloads and personal life in a way that works best for them and their families.
- Increasing paid parental leave to 18 weeks, with flexibility in how this is taken, as well as continuing superannuation contributions during the unpaid component of parental leave for up to 12 months. Our improved policy also includes three weeks paid co-parent leave available to the non-birth parent at the time of birth.
- Our revolutionary DLA Piper Academy which digitises the learning experience and drives experiential and collaborative learning, available ‘just in time’ for the learner’s needs. Every individual in the firm has a personalised learning plan that outlines the essential and career building development based on their level, location and area of practice. The Academy brings together all learning and development opportunities from across the firm through a self-service learning platform.
- Continued review and improvement to the support provided to our female pipeline talent to ensure they have the opportunity to achieve a future in leadership.
- Continuing to improve and enhance our rigorous pay equity and performance rating analysis.
-
Constantly embedding our values and acknowledging the important role they play in our firm. They give us strength and solidarity and encourage us to act with integrity. These values have made us a better firm; they make us proud to be DLA Piper.
DLA Piper was also recognised earlier this year as Employer of Choice for Gender Equality in Australia by the Australian Government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).
