DLA Piper advises 2GIS on acquisition of 47% stake in RocketData
DLA Piper has advised 2GIS, a Russian digital cartography service owned by Sber, on the investment in and acquisition of a 47% stake in RocketData, a Belarus-based local listing management service.
The acquisition and investment will enable the integration of the 2GIS and Sber digital ecosystems, helping RocketData attract new customers, expand into new markets and launch new products. It will also allow for the creation of a single personal account for launching advertising campaigns using web mapping services and social networks with geotargeting, as well as for local search analysis and other products.
2GIS plans to increase its stake in Rocketdata to 88% in the second half of 2021, once the necessary regulatory approvals are received. RocketData’s operations remain with the current project team.
DLA Piper provided full legal support for the transaction. The firm’s Moscow-based team was led by Corporate partner and global co-chair of Emerging Growth and Venture Capital, Leo Batalov, assisted by legal director, Andrei Sheetkin, and associates, Alexandra Braterskaya and Konstantin Savryga. Finance and Projects legal director Alexei Kolesnikov and associate Nino Galdava also advised on the transaction.
