DLA Piper partner Keith Medansky honored by Kaplan Educational Foundation as a Champion of Equity and Inclusion

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Keith Medansky, a partner in the firm’s Chicago office and co-chair of the Chicago Intellectual Property practice, was recently honored by the Kaplan Educational Foundation (KEF) as a Champion of Equity and Inclusion.

KEF seeks to eliminate barriers to education for overlooked and underserved students and develop them as leaders for the American workforce and their communities. Medansky was recognized at the organization’s Stand Up for Diversity Inaugural Awards Event honoring leaders in the KEF community “who have played a critical role in ensuring educational and economic equity for community college students of color nationwide.”

Medansky has more than 30 years of experience in all facets of trademark, advertising and copyright law. In his practice, he protects intellectual property portfolios for all kinds of businesses, from small startup companies to large multinationals. He has broad experience in complex IP issues relating to licensing, tax holding companies, M&A and bankruptcy. With a focus on anti-counterfeiting and piracy matters, he has built and managed global brand protection programs for some of the world’s largest businesses. He has also successfully litigated trademark and copyright lawsuits in the US and abroad.

Medansky has been involved in a number of pro bono efforts, including advising nonprofit organizations in Chicago and across the country on intellectual property law. He also sits on the board of the Lawyers for the Creative Arts and has represented children with disabilities to ensure equal access to education.
