Vaughn MacLellan appointed Managing Partner of the Toronto office

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is pleased to announce that, effective January 1, 2022, Vaughn MacLellan will become the Office Managing Partner of the Toronto office.

Vaughn joined the firm as a Partner in 2015, and has built a successful practice advising issuers and investment dealers on securities matters, with an emphasis on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and securities law compliance. Vaughn has played a key role in the growth of DLA Piper’s Toronto office, acting on a variety of high-profile securities and corporate finance transactions, public and private mergers and acquisitions, Capital Pool Company transactions, and stock exchange listings for some of the firm’s most important clients. He has been recognized by leading lawyer ranking guides, Best Lawyers in Canada, the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory and The Legal 500 Canada, for his work in corporate and securities law.

Active in the profession and the community, Vaughn recently completed a term as Chair of the Toronto chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, a private equity and M&A industry association, and currently serves as Chair of the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, an Ottawa-based public policy think tank. In June 2021, Vaughn was appointed to the Ontario Securities Commission’s Continuous Disclosure Advisory Committee, along with 16 other experienced professionals from a range of legal and financial backgrounds. In addition, Vaughn sits on the Local Advisory Committee (Ontario) of the TSX Venture Exchange and he has been a frequent speaker at the “Intensive Short Course on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange” co-produced by the exchanges and Osgoode Professional Development in Toronto. Vaughn is the author of Halsbury’s Laws of Canada - Securities, and he has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of New Brunswick where he has taught Corporate ‎Transactions and is currently coaching its team for the 2022 Davies Corporate/Securities Moot. ‎
