DLA Piper advises Ares on AUD 428 million sale of AMP PrivateMarketsCo Infrastructure Debt Investment Management Platform

DLA Piper has advised NYSE-listed Ares (NYSE:ARES) on its subsidiary's AUD 428 million acquisition of AMP's PrivateMarketsCo Infrastructure Debt Platform, one of the largest infrastructure debt investment management platforms globally.

"AMP's PrivateMarketsCo Infrastructure Debt Platform is highly complementary with Ares' leading private credit franchise," said Martin Jamieson, Head of Investment Management & Funds, Australia, DLA Piper.

DLA Piper's multi-jurisdictional and cross-practice team acting on the acquisition was led by Martin Jamieson and M&A partner David Ryan. They were supported by special counsel Kurt Tiam, senior associate Kelvin Lau and solicitors, Timothy Lou, Cassian Ho and Kimberley Chee. The team also had employment support from Australian based partner Nicholas Turner, senior associate Clancy King and solicitor Jessica Lim, finance support from Australian based finance team partners Alex Regan and Onno Bakker and solicitors Joanne Lim and Basil Joseph, tax support from Australian based partner Jock McCormack and senior associate Jun Au, as well as support from their equivalent specialist DLA Piper colleagues from around the globe.

The global legal due diligence for the transaction was coordinated by DLA Piper from Australia and leveraged off the expertise of specialist teams in DLA Piper's offices and affiliate offices in the United States of America, Luxembourg, United States Virgin Islands, United Kingdom, Singapore, United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands, Canada, France, Brussels, India and Taiwan.

DLA Piper worked alongside Kirkland & Ellis' US and London offices as co-advisers on the transaction.

Ares is a leading global alternative investment manager. DLA Piper is fortunate to have a long-standing relationship with Ares in Australia and globally, including having advised Ares on its joint venture with Fidante (the funds management arm of ASX listed Australian financial services firm Challenger Limited) in 2019.
