DLA Piper strengthens infrastructure and PPP projects team
DLA Piper's Warsaw office has expanded its Projects team by three lawyers this year: Aleksander Haleniuk, Piotr Gałązka and Bartłomiej Ślemp.
The law firm has been consistently strengthening its team of experienced specialists in this area, helping it better support clients in the largest projects on the Polish market in the energy, transport, water and sewage, municipal infrastructure, education and sports sectors.
“We are delighted that three experienced lawyers with excellent market knowledge and strong competencies in infrastructure projects have joined our team,” said Adriana Mierzwa-Bronikowska, a co-head of the team. “We are expanding our practice in response to the growing needs of our clients and the dynamic development of the market.”
Aleksander Haleniuk is a legal adviser and has been hired as a Senior Associate. He specialises in banking, financial and civil law, and has experience advising on infrastructure financing transactions, including Project Finance/PPP, real estate and cross-border projects, representing both banks and borrowers. Before joining the firm, Haleniuk worked at the European Investment Bank, where he was responsible for the Baltic Sea region.
Piotr Gałązka is also a legal adviser. As an Associate, he advises clients on projects, with a particular focus on the energy sector. He specialises in regulatory and transactional advisory in renewable energy, waste management, water, port and aviation infrastructure. He has assisted clients in numerous domestic and cross-border transactions in the acquisition, construction and financing of infrastructure assets.
Bartłomiej Ślemp, as an Associate, advises private and public sector entities. He supports clients at every stage of PPP and concession projects, from pre-feasibility studies, through tendering, implementation and financing.
“We expect that as the Polish economy modernises, the market for infrastructure projects will continue to grow strongly," said Magdalena Zabłocka-Foulkes, Counsel and co-head of the Projects team. “Our aim is to work with our colleagues from other DLA Piper offices to create the best infrastructure project team in the region.”
The Warsaw team’s development is reflected in prestigious international rankings. Both Chambers and Partners Europe 2022 and IFLR1000 2021 recommend the practice, and Mierzwa-Bronikowska individually, in the infrastructure projects category. In turn, The Legal 500 EMEA 2021 classifies DLA Piper in Tier 1 in the field of public procurement, while Mierzwa-Bronikowska and Zabłocka-Foulkes are among the lawyers recommended in this area.
