DLA Piper tops inspiratia 2021 renewable energy rankings

DLA Piper has been ranked as the number one law firm for advising on completed renewable energy deals in 2021. The ranking is compiled by inspiratia, a provider of real-time energy industry analysis and news.

In the first three quarters of 2021 and in total deal count, DLA Piper advised on more completed renewable energy deals than any other global firm. The completed transactions included a number of 100 global transactions demonstrating a large presence in the UK, Italian and Polish renewable energy market, the most significant of which was advising the UK infrastructure Bank with its first transaction, a GBP250 million investment into NextEnergy Capital's solar fund. The firm also advised on a number of offshore wind deals including advising BASF's sale of its 25% stake in Hollandse Kust Zuid III & IV, a 750MW offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.

Natasha Luther-Jones, Global Co-Chair of the Energy and Natural Resources sector and International Head of Sustainability and ESG commented on the ranking: "We are delighted to be recognised as a leading legal advisor in the renewable energy space. With more renewable energy deals completed than any other global law firm, the ranking confirms our pole position and showcases the strength and breadth of our global renewable energy team."

DLA Piper also was ranked first for inspiratia's Q4 2021 rankings by deal volume, and within the top 5 by deal count for their 2021 infrastructure rankings. In addition, DLA Piper was one of only ten international firms ranked the recently launched Legal 500 EMEA Green Guide.

The firm has also been recognised as a Global Energy Transition Innovator in Green Finance, Wind Sector Finance Advisory Expertise, in Reuters’ Top 100 Innovators Report. DLA Piper is one of only two law firms listed in this report based off market research.
