Four DLA Piper lawyers named to Variety's 2022 Legal Impact Report

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that four of its lawyers have been named to Variety’s 2022 Legal Impact Report highlighting the top attorneys in the entertainment business.

Los Angeles-based lawyers Tom Ara, co-lead of the Sports, Media & Entertainment Finance & Transactions practice; David Markman, co-chair of the Entertainment Transactions practice; Robert Sherman, co-chair of the Entertainment Finance practice; and associate Katherine Imp were recognized as a team in this year’s report.

The publication noted Ara’s and Sherman’s work advising ZASH Global Media & Entertainment in its acquisition of video platform Lomotif, as well as Ara’s and Imp’s counseling of TikTok in various matters. Variety also highlighted Markman’s representation of Michelle Rodriguez in a deal to star in a Dungeons & Dragons adaptation for Paramount, and recognized Sherman’s role in assisting independent music company Concord in securing more than US$1 billion in debt financing for music rights acquisitions, including financing for its acquisition of Downtown’s music copyright portfolio, and advising Harbourview Equity Partners in raising $1 billion in financing from Apollo Global Management and its affiliates to finance HarbourView Equity Partners’ acquisition of music rights.
