DLA Piper tops inaugural inspiratia 2021 corporate power purchase agreement rankings

DLA Piper has been ranked as the number one law firm for advising on corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) in 2021 in the inaugural inspiratia PPA dashboard for Europe. Inspiratia is a provider of real-time energy industry analysis and news.

In 2021, DLA Piper ranked highest for disclosed deal volume with the most deals advised, 16, and the largest sum of megawatt capacity advised on, 4920.5 MW. In particular it was noted that the firm has been active across Europe in top markets such as the UK, Germany and The Netherlands, advising on BASF's 49.5% EUR300 million (GBP251 million USD336 million) acquisition of Vattenfall's Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm which included a long term PPA agreement.

Natasha Luther-Jones, Global Co-Chair of the Energy and Natural Resources sector and International Head of Sustainability and ESG commented on the ranking: "Following on this year's inspiratia 2021 league table results that show DLA Piper advise on more renewable energy projects globally than any other law firm, this is a testament to our team's position at the forefront of the market. Our corporate PPA practice is a key aspect of what we do and many of the large scale renewable projects we advise on have long term PPA agreements built into them."
