Dr. Damian Kazmierczak joins DLA Piper, fulfilling the newly created position of in-house economic expert
Damian Kaźmierczak, PhD has joined the law firm DLA Piper, where he has taken up the newly created position of economic expert. He will support the activities of the Warsaw office in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, financial markets, real estate and corporate restructuring.
Damian Kaźmierczak holds a PhD in economics and is the chief economist at the Polish Federation of Construction Employers (Polski Związek Pracodawców Budownictwa), the largest industry organisation bringing together companies and integrating key stakeholders in the Polish construction sector. He also works as an assistant professor at the Chair of Corporate Financial Management at the Faculty of Management of the University of Łódź. He joined the Warsaw office of DLA Piper at the beginning of September.
“The creation of an economic expert position is a solution that is not commonly used by law firms in Poland. At a time of unprecedented changes in the global economy under the influence of international conflicts, the energy crisis or the growing uncertainty related to high inflation and record interest rate rises, it is necessary to provide clients with much stronger support in the field of economics and finance,” said Krzysztof Kycia, co-managing partner and head of the litigation and arbitration practice at DLA Piper in Warsaw.
The combination of legal practice with an academic and analytical approach will make it possible to provide companies and business entities with exceptional advice.
“Economics and law are closely intertwined. Legal advice cannot abstract from the mechanisms of economics, finance and management that affect the functioning of companies and their relations with stakeholders,” said Damian Kazmierczak, PhD. “I believe that my knowledge and experience in working with business will be an excellent complement to DLA Piper's core competencies in corporate operations, as well as supporting the law firm in handling the largest capital market transactions.”
DLA Piper has been active in Poland for 15 years, advising the world's largest corporations and domestic companies in sectors such as new technology, finance, trade, life sciences, energy or real estate. A team of almost 200 people works for the success of the law firm's clients in Poland, and the revenue of DLA Piper's Warsaw office has increased by more than half in the last three years. On the domestic M&A market, the law firm remains at the forefront of legal advisory, gaining recognition from clients for its commitment and out-of-the-box approach to transactions. This is reflected in the ever-growing client portfolio, as well as in the number of projects handled and the recognition the law firm enjoys in international rankings such as Chambers and Partners, The Legal 500 EMEA, as well as IFLR1000 and Mergermarket.
