DLA Piper (Canada) LLP welcomes Gavyn Backus

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP is thrilled to welcome associate Gavyn Backus to the Vancouver office.

Gavyn is a corporate law generalist with a technology focus, who works with entrepreneurs, ‎founders, and other ‎executives at all stages of the business life cycle.

Gavyn has experience in a range of industries, including tech, fintech, biotech, clean tech, and emerging markets. He frequently advises clients on a variety of corporate commercial matters,  including purchase and sale transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and the negotiation of commercial relationships. Gavyn also provides guidance to management on corporate governance, organizational, and regulatory issues.

Outside of the legal profession, Gavyn has worked as a strategic advisor to start-ups. He also has a background in science. Using his diverse experience, Gavyn applies a methodical approach to provide clients with practical legal advice.
