DLA Piper continues to expand Asia Banking & Finance practice with strategic partner hire in Hong Kong

DLA Piper today announces the appointment of Trinh Hoang as a partner in its Asia Finance, Projects and Restructuring (FP&R) practice, based in Hong Kong.

Trinh joins the firm from Linklaters in Hong Kong, where she was a Managing Associate in its banking team. Trinh is a leading banking lawyer, with strong experience in special situation financing and restructuring debt facilities, as well as structured finance, acquisition finance and corporate loans. Her clients have included large financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and Bank of America.

Trinh qualified in the UK and is a registered foreign lawyer in Hong Kong. She is also a native Vietnamese speaker.

Commenting on the hire, Matthias Schemuth, who leads DLA Piper’s FP&R practice in Asia, said: “I am delighted to welcome Trinh to our FP&R team in Hong Kong. She is an experienced banking lawyer and her knowledge and experience in debt restructuring and special situation financing will complement our existing capabilities in Asia, enabling us to enhance our transactional finance practice offering to clients. The team and I are very much looking forward to her joining us.”

DLA Piper’s International Group Head of FP&R, David Trott, added: “We are deeply committed to developing our Asia FP&R offering in Asia, which is evidenced by the fact we have made five lateral partner hires across the region during the past five years. Trinh is the third partner to join our FPR practice in Hong Kong within the past year, following banking & finance lawyer Crystal Chen and senior energy lawyer Russell Wilkinson. Trinh’s appointment further strengthens DLA Piper’s existing position as a leading advisor within the Finance, Projects and Restructuring space in Asia”.
