DLA Piper adds Andrew Cooper as a partner in the firm’s Environmental team

DLA Piper is pleased to welcome Washington, DC-based partner Andrew (“Drew”) Cooper to the firm’s Environmental team within the Regulatory practice.

Drew has 30 years of experience in environmental law. He frequently advises purchasers, sellers, lenders or borrowers on environmental matters in transactions ranging in value from seven to ten figures. Clients and principals have included private equity holding companies, manufacturers, energy companies, utilities, real estate developers, lenders, distributors, retailers and others in matters from real estate conveyances to complex purchase, sale and financing of major manufacturing companies.

Drew also has substantial experience litigating environmental claims and negotiating with federal and state agencies, including taking several environmental cases to trial. His wide-ranging practice encompasses single plaintiff and mass tort matters, and government actions in state and federal courts across the country.

“As businesses across industries increasingly focus on environmental impacts and sustainability, Drew has the knowledge and experience to match that demand. We are confident that his existing relationships and client development skills will help serve high-profile environmental engagements for the firm, from both new and existing clients,” said Gwen Keyes Fleming, co-chair of the Environmental practice group.

“We are thrilled to welcome Drew to the Washington, DC office and are committed to supporting his efforts in expanding the breadth and depth of our environment practice across all sectors,” said William Minor, managing partner of the Washington, DC office.
