DLA Piper adds David Pope as a partner in the firm’s Tax group
DLA Piper is pleased to welcome New York-based partner David Pope to the firm’s Tax group.
Pope’s practice focuses on state and local tax controversy, planning, and restructuring matters. Pope counsels clients on corporate income tax (at the state and local levels), sales and use tax, property tax, payroll tax, personal income tax, and unclaimed property in all states.
Pope also has substantial experience defending clients in tax-related False Claims Act matters, and routinely advises Fortune 500 companies in retail, financial, insurance, telecommunications and pharmaceutical industries across the US. Before joining DLA Piper, Pope worked at an international law firm and in a Big 4 accounting firm.
“State and local taxation is an important focus for our clients and an area of increased scrutiny by taxing authorities. David’s experience in state and local tax planning as well as assistance with audits and controversies will play a pivotal role in providing value for our clients,” said Alison Maxwell, chair of the US Tax practice.
“David promises to add immediate value to our tax practice, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the New York office,” said Cara Edwards, managing partner of the New York office.
