DLA Piper partner Robert J. Sherman named to Billboard's 2023 Top Music Lawyers list

DLA Piper is pleased to announce that Robert J. Sherman, co-chair of the firm’s Entertainment Finance practice, has been named to Billboard’s 2023 Top Music Lawyers list.

In its profile of Sherman, the publication highlighted his representation of Concord in its historic US$1.8 billion music securitization, the largest ABS offering backed by music royalties in the history of the industry in terms of both size of issuance and number of assets, totaling over one million copyrights. Sherman also represented Concord on the financing of all of its recent acquisitions, including Downtown Music and Phil Collins’ catalog. He also recently represented HarbourView Equity Partners in its historic joint venture with Apollo Global Management, Multimedia Music in its formation and capital raising transactions, and many other notable music companies in their acquisition financings, as well as important music rights acquisition transactions.

Sherman focuses his practice on domestic and cross-border financings, acquisitions and strategic transactions for clients in the entertainment and media industries. He represents banks, private equity funds, sponsors, independent production companies, commercial banks and private debt funds, motion picture studios, TV and film production and distribution companies, record companies, music publishers, concert and other live event promoters and other participants in complex motion picture, TV, digital content and music industry transactions.

Sherman has also represented clients in matters involving the purchase of media and entertainment assets from debtors in bankruptcy and other proceedings.
