DLA Piper hires new tax partner in Vienna
DLA Piper has appointed a new tax partner who joined the Vienna office on 2 January. Philipp Stanek joins from Baker McKenzie Austria where he was Head of Tax.
Philipp has built a strong practice, providing high value and specialised international tax advice centering on M&A, transactions and corporate restructurings. He regularly advises multinational and domestic corporations on cross border deal structuring, debt and equity financing structures and tax due diligences. His service portfolio includes M&A related tax work, international tax work, domestic corporate tax advice, tax due diligence and tax litigation.
Before joining Baker McKenzie in 2016, Philipp worked at EY for many years. He is a fully qualified lawyer but also a tax advisor, so he brings with him broad expertise across corporate and international taxes as well as indirect taxes.
Jacques Wantz, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper's Tax practice, commented: “Phillip's appointment is part of our strategic initiative to build a comprehensive Austrian tax practice, fully integrated into the global DLA Piper network. His entrepreneurial mindset, technical expertise and international experience are exactly the right skillset for what we have been looking for and we look forward to his contribution in helping to build this practice over the coming months and years.”
