Aziz Aboudheir is an experienced litigator with a broad commercial litigation practice. He advises and represents clients across a wide spectrum of industries in complex disputes, including those involving construction, contracts, oil and gas, shareholder relations, franchises, real estate, and intellectual property.

Before joining DLA Piper, Aziz practised at both a national law firm and a prominent Western Canadian firm, where he gained deep experience across regional and federal litigation matters.

Aziz regularly appears before the Courts of King’s Bench and Courts of Appeal in Saskatchewan and Alberta, as well as the Federal Court of Canada. He also represents clients in private arbitrations and other alternative dispute resolution forums. A skilled negotiator, Aziz has successfully resolved many disputes through mediation—often securing early and cost-effective settlements aligned with his clients’ goals.

EXPERIENCE

Representative experience includes:

  • Acting for contractors and owners in construction disputes involving delay claims, deficiencies, and contractual interpretation.
  • Representing owners of oil and gas interests in royalty and cost-sharing disputes. 
  • Advising grain exporters and agricultural equipment manufacturers in commercial disputes related to real estate, export compliance, and government relations.
  • Representing and advising municipalities in tax bylaw challenges, governance matters, and expropriation issues.
  • Enforcing clients’ patent and trademark rights through litigation in the Federal and Provincial Courts.
  • Representing business owners in shareholder and partnership disputes across the agricultural, energy, and personal services sectors.
  • Serving as litigation counsel to a national franchisor on all matters arising in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
