Lee Axford practises in the areas of commercial transactions, including commercial real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, share and asset purchase transactions, secured lending matters, including in the oil and gas sector, tax driven reorganizations, and commercial leasing matters.

Lee has acted for a wide range of public and private sector clients, providing strategic advice during all stages of client transactions, from negotiating and drafting complex principal agreements to delivering post-closing advice and support.

Lee received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 2007. He attended law school at the University of Windsor and received a Juris Doctor in 2011. Lee developed and taught a course in contract drafting and negotiation at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law. He is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Law.

Lee articled with the firm in 2011 and joined the firm as an associate in 2012. He worked at a boutique corporate law firm in Ontario for several years before returning to the firm in 2019. Lee is called to the bar in Alberta and Ontario.

  • Acted on the negotiation of several major supply agreements for the provision of energy services
  • Acted for several large agricultural corporations with respect to multi-million dollar sales of assets
  • Acted for several automotive manufacturing corporations with respect to multi-million dollar acquisition transactions (share and asset)
  • Acted for a large European corporation with respect to establishing a Canadian subsidiary for the import and processing of food products in Canada
  • Acted on the negotiation of commercial lease agreements for premises in various national airports, airport hangars, and data centers as well as premises for national grocery chains, national fast-food chains, and a large international convenience store chain
  • Acted as counsel to Wiikwemkoong Connect Centre Limited Partnership in connection with the acquisition of the Connect Centre, a landmark commercial property located in Edmonton's ICE District
  • Acted for various private equity clients on a variety of commercial property acquisitions and dispositions in Alberta and Ontario
