Isaac Belland is an associate in DLA Piper's Restructuring practice, focusing on bankruptcy and insolvency matters and commercial litigation. He advises secured lenders and other creditors, receivers, monitors, trustees, and other stakeholders in proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, receiverships, workouts, and enforcement actions, including realization on personal property security and mortgage enforcement. Isaac's background in accounting supports his work on the financial issues in these mandates, including cash flow forecasts, claims analysis, and receivers' and monitors' reports. Isaac has acted for clients in matters before the Alberta Court of King's Bench, the Alberta Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
During law school, Isaac won the 2023 Alberta Court of Appeal Civil Moot, placed second in the 2022 Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin Moot, and was selected for the Courts Clerkship program, where he worked under three judges of the Alberta Court of Justice.
Isaac summered and articled with the firm prior to joining as an associate.
