Pieter has extensive expertise in corporate law, restructuring, and insolvency matters. He advises distressed companies and creditors on navigating complex insolvency challenges, providing strategic guidance and assistance in both out-of-court solutions and in-court proceedings, with a particular focus on distressed M&A transactions.

He also has extensive experience in financial lines litigation (directors' liability issues and shareholder disputes) and corporate and insolvency related insurance coverage disputes.

Furthermore, he also assists with W&I insurance underwriting.

Pieter has significant experience in the retail and automotive sector in insolvency related matters.

  • Assisted Maxi Toys with its distressed sale within the framework of a judicial reorganisation proceedings by transfer under judicial control.
  • Assisted a major shoe retailer with its expansion in Belgium through the acquisition of a large portfolio of shoe stores in the framework of a transfer under judicial control.
  • Assisted an important minority shareholder of Sibelco with its exit within the framework of a public offer on own shares.
  • Assists one of the key parties in a litigation regarding a major railway accident.
  • Assists in various financial lines litigations.
  • Assists a leading player in the automotive sector with several restructuring related disputes of its suppliers.
  • Assists various insurers in D&O insurance related claims (both claims handling and coverage advice).
  • Assists various brokers with W&I insurance underwriting.
