Daniela Mejia is an Associate in the IP&T Department at DLA Piper’s Madrid office. Her professional experience includes both litigation and non-litigation matters in areas such as trademarks, patents, and online gambling regulation, as well as general legal advisory in unfair competition, software protection, compliance with personal data regulations, and artificial intelligence.

Prior to joining the Firm, she completed a Dual Master´s Degree in Access to the Legal Profession and Legal Advisory in Digital and Technology Law.

EXPERIENCE

Her experience includes advising:

  • In the protection and enforcement of trademark rights through trademark registration and opposition proceedings, as well as in pre-litigation and transactional matters, primarily for clients in the retail and food & beverage sectors.
  • Clients in the defense and challenge of industrial property rights, by participating in patent-related matters such as infringement proceedings and nullity actions, as well as advising on the protection of trade secrets.
  • Legal counsel to online gambling companies on consumer claims and regulatory compliance, with significant involvement in litigation proceedings.
  • On intellectual property matters, including software protection, review of copyright assignment and confidentiality agreements, and assessment of IP infringement risks in audiovisual content.
  • On data protection compliance, including advisory to clients in the course of sanctioning proceedings before the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).
  • On advertising and commercial practices in Spain, helping clients align their marketing strategies with consumer protection standards and other sector-specific regulations.
