Harriet Michael is a Senior Associate in the Litigation, Arbitration and Regulatory Group at DLA Piper. She has over 5 years' experience in the area of commercial dispute resolution, predominantly focused on high value, complex English High Court litigation.

Harriet advises a range of clients (including multi-national corporations, private equity houses, pension funds and high net worth individuals) on major corporate and commercial disputes with a particular emphasis on M&A/transactional claims and joint venture/shareholder disputes. Her work spans several sectors including technology, manufacturing, real estate and media, sports and entertainment.

Harriet co-lead's the North West's Leadership Alliance for Women and is committed to gender balance initiatives.

EXPERIENCE

  • Acting successfully for the directors and majority shareholders of SPG Limited, in their defence of a significant unfair prejudice dispute brought against the directors and majority shareholders of SportPesa, an online gambling company operating in Africa and UK/Europe.  
  • Acting for EASI Global in cross border proceedings brought in the UK and Australia by HungryPanda for alleged breach of contract and warranty following its acquisition of the EASI Global’s fast-food business.
  • Acting for the Reply Group in proceedings brought in the Technology & Construction Court against Iceland Foods in relation to an IT contract.
  • Representing a global Real Estate management firm in a substantial dispute with its joint venture partner.
  • Acting successfully for Liverpool Football Club in its defence of the Commercial Court contractual interpretation case brought by Winklink Marketing Ltd in respect of an alleged unpaid commission payment.
     

ADDITIONAL NEWS

Harriet completed a secondment to DLA Piper’s Melbourne office as part of the firm's secondment programme, to assist the Melbourne team with a trial. Whilst in Melbourne, Harriet expanded her international network and worked on a high profile matter before the Victorian Supreme Court.
