About

Dilhan has a broad range of experience acting in significant commercial disputes in the Supreme Courts of Victoria and New South Wales, the Federal Court of Australia and the High Court of Australia. 

He has advised clients across a number of areas in relation to:

  • civil litigation, including contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, directors' duties, misleading or deceptive conduct claims and fraud;
  • investigations and enforcement actions by regulators and other investigatory bodies (ie ASIC, AUSTRAC, ACCC, TGA and IBAC); and
  • commissions of inquiry, having acted for Westpac during the Financial Services Royal Commission. Dilhan undertook a secondment to Westpac's in-house Royal Commission team during that time.

Dilhan has acted for clients across a range of industries, including financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, gaming, ports and shipping, and power and energy.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising an Australian multinational banking and financial services company during the Financial Services Royal Commission.*
  • Advising an Australian banking and financial services company in proceedings brought by ASIC in relation to cybersecurity enforcement action.*
  • Advising ASIC in relation to an investigation into breaches of the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth) by a non-bank lender.
  • Advising an Australian payroll services provider in respect of its obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) and assisting in discussions with AUSTRAC.*
  • Advising an Australian container terminal operator in proceedings against the landlord of one of Australia's major ports concerning allegations of misleading of deceptive conduct.*
  • Representing the purchaser in a AUD1.2 billion transaction in proceedings against multiple insurers concerning a breach of warranty and indemnity claim.*
  • Advising the board of directors of an Australian joint venture company owned by a consortium of foreign owned companies in relation to directors' duties, where the Australian company was considering the appointment of administrators.*
  • Advising the board of directors of an Australian payday lender in a dispute with its largest shareholder concerning shareholder information rights.*
  • Advising the solicitors acting for a class of applicants living in public housing in a remote First Nations community in the Northern Territory, on a series of proceedings before the Northern Territory Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the High Court of Australia concerning tenancy disputes.*
