Victor is a dispute resolution lawyer at DLA Piper. 

He advises clients in variety of sectors, including financial services, industrials, renewables, healthcare, consumer goods, real estate, technology and entertainment.

Much of Victor's work has an international element, involving multiple jurisdictions and cross-border disputes. His recent experience includes litigation in the High Court and International Arbitration (LCIA, ICC and CIETAC).

EXPERIENCE

  • Representing C-suite executives of global healthcare businesses at cross-border depositions in a USD2.2bn securities fraud class action lawsuit.
  • Acting for a Swiss client in a London-seated arbitration (ICC) relating to a liquidated damages claim against an Indian counterparty in connection with an agreement for the purchase of renewable energy certificates.
  • Acting for a UAE-based investor in a multi-million pound claim in the Chancery Division against the guarantors of loans to UK-based real estate developers.
  • Advising a leading global cryptocurrency exchange in relation to a multi-million pound cross-border dispute with its payment services provider.
  • Acting for a credit manager in relation to a multi-million pound cross-border claim in Commercial Court, relating to an unpaid break fee under a Mandate Document. Successfully obtained summary judgment for the full value of the claim.
  • Advising a UK client in a Beijing-seated arbitration (CIETAC) as an innocent third party to a large-scale fraud committed in Uganda, successfully defending the claim.
  • Defending a global bank in a claim relating to a specialist insurance adviser’s alleged commission fees, arising from the assignment of security for multi-million dollar ship financing loans.
  • Advising a global bank in a claim relating to the payment of alleged brokerage fees owed to a third party agent, successfully defending the claim for the Bank as well as succeeding in a Part 20 restitutionary claim against the third party agent.
  • Acting for CBILS lender in relation to a multi-million pound claim against its lending partner. The litigation was the first of its kind in relation to the Government’s CBILS scheme and included successfully obtaining an interim order in the London Circuit Commercial Court for injunctive relief to prevent the partner from enforcing its security.
