Sarah Turner represents clients in complex commercial litigation, in state and federal courts across the United States and in arbitrations. Sarah has extensive experience representing companies and individuals in significant, high stakes matters. She has represented clients in a wide range of disputes and investigations in a variety of industries, including matters arising out of M&A transactions, antitrust, other corporate-related issues and commercial contract disputes, and insurance and reinsurance coverage and regulatory matters. Sarah has also represented clients in regulatory investigations.

Sarah has particularly significant experience representing major national and international corporations in the financial services and insurance industries, having begun her legal career representing those clients in high-exposure coverage disputes involving reinsurance transactions and primary, excess, and umbrella insurance policies written on claims-made and occurrence bases, among them D&O, E&O and professional liability, cyber, fidelity bonds, property, general liability, pharmaceutical and products liability.

EXPERIENCE

  • Represented global insurance group, and its domestic and international business units, in an internal investigation and post-deal dispute concerning alleged breaches of contract, breaches of representations and warranties, and related claims arising from a loss portfolio transfer transaction involving up to $1 billion in potential liabilities.
  • Represented foreign reinsurer in post-deal dispute involving the scope of liabilities transferred through a $400 million loss portfolio transfer transaction.
  • Represented domestic insurer in post-deal dispute involving breach of warranty and related contract provisions in connection with a $200 million loss portfolio transfer transaction.
  • Represented real estate brokerages in defending against alleged antitrust class action involving commission practices and related conduct of dozens of real estate industry entities.
  • Represented domestic and London-based insurers in managing global response to potential commercial property, business interruption, and other coverage liabilities, and related litigations in state and federal courts across the United States, in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Represented global property insurer in state court coverage litigation arising out of a high-profile cyber loss of over $1 billion.
  • Represented directors and officers insurers in coverage disputes arising out of multiple securities class actions involving billions of dollars in alleged damages.
  • Represented professional liability insurer in connection with bad faith allegations arising out of a $50+ million verdict.
  • Represented professional sports team in post-deal dispute relating to the scope of existing intellectual property liabilities transferred.
  • Represented foreign bank in the defense of RICO class action allegations arising out of government restrictions on the withdrawal of foreign funds.
