About

Rob Williams concentrates his practice on patent litigation in Federal District Courts, the International Trade Commission and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Rob has represented clients in patent disputes involving a wide range of technologies, including computer hardware and software, portable electronic devices, hard disk drives, file systems, printing systems and wireless technologies.

Prior to law school, Rob earned a master's degree in Computer Science from Stanford University and worked as a software engineer.

EXPERIENCE

  • Neodron v. Microsoft Corp. – Represented Microsoft in patent litigation involving touchscreen mobile devices in the Western District of Texas and in ITC Investigation No. 337-TA-1162.  Obtained favorable settlement for client.
  • IGS v. Microsoft Corp.– Represented Microsoft in patent litigation involving cloud-based graphics processing in the Western District of Texas.  Obtained favorable settlement for client.
  • Skybell v. Arlo Technologies, Inc. – Represented Arlo in patent litigation involving video streaming in ITC Investigation No. 33y-TA-1242.  Obtained summary judgment of invalidity in favor of Arlo.
  • Technology Properties Limited (TPL) LLC v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. – Represented Samsung in patent litigation involving microprocessor technology in the Northern District of California and in ITC Investigation No. 853.  Obtained determination of no violation in the ITC and summary judgment of noninfringement in the District Court.
  • Ricoh v. Oki Data—Represented Ricoh in a multi-jurisdictional patent dispute involving printing and imaging technology in the District of Delaware and in the ITC). 
  • STOP v. Omnilink—Represented Omnilink in a multi-defendant patent litigation in the Eastern District of Texas relating to hardware and software for electronic tracking of persons. Obtained favorable settlement for client
  • NetApp v. Sun—Represented Sun in three patent infringement actions in the Northern District of California, involving 39 patents, relating primarily to computer file system and networking technology. Obtained favorable settlement for client.
  • HP v. Acer—Represented HP in a multi-jurisdictional patent infringement dispute including an ITC Investigation involving three patents relating to personal computer architecture, thermal management and display technology. Obtained favorable settlement for the client.
  • Qualcomm v. Nokia—Represented Qualcomm in patent litigation in the Western District of Wisconsin relating to cellular phone semiconductor technology. Obtained favorable settlement for client.
  • Hitachi GST v. Samsung—Represented Samsung in patent litigation in the Eastern District of Texas involving five patents relating to hard disk drive technology. Obtained favorable settlement for client.
